MPO (multi-fiber Push On), MPO fiber optic patch cords, as a high-density multi-core fiber optic cable, have been used in data center construction solutions in recent years. In addition to its many advantages such as small size, large number of basic fiber cores, and fast transmission rate, what other details do you know about it?

What is the MPO fiber optic patch cord

First of all, the MPO connector (Multi-fiber push on) used by the MPO fiber optic patch cord is one of the MT series. The ferrules of the MT series use two guide holes with a diameter of 0.7mm on the end face of the ferrule and the guide pins for precise connection. MPO connectors and fiber optic cables can be processed to produce various forms of MPO patch cords. MPO patch cords can be designed with 2~12 cores, and can be up to 24 cores. Currently, the 12-core MPO connector is the most used.

MPO fiber optic patch cord are widely used in FTTX and 40/100GSFP, SFP+ and other transceiver modules or connection applications inside and outside the equipment in environments that require high-density integrated optical fiber lines in the wiring process.

Classification of MPO fiber optic patch cords

MPO fiber optic patch cords are divided into transfer type and non-transfer type. There are many types of transfer MPO fiber optic patch cords, including ribbon MPO, bundled MPO, and PO fan-out through splitters (round or square). Fiber optic patch cords can generally be transferred out of 2~24 core 0.9 or 2.0 fiber optic cable branches.

The connector type is specified by the customer, and the optional FC, LC, SC, ST and other types are available. The total length of the MPO fiber optic patch cords or the branch length and other requirements can be selected by the customer. All kinds of MPO fiber optic patch cords, MTP types, MTP 10 Gigabit patch cords, multi-mode 10 Gigabit patch cords, MPO patch cords with splitter and other forms of MPO patch cord products are all in line with Telcordia-GR-326 , IEC standards and Rohs requirements.

MPO fiber optic patch cords also distinguish between male and female connectors. MPO fiber optic connectors include optical fibers, sheaths, coupling components, metal rings, pins, dust caps, etc. The male connector contains two PINS, the female connector does not.

Polarity A: The fiber cores at both ends of the patch cords are arranged in the same position, that is, 1 at one end corresponds to 1 at the other end, and 12 at one end corresponds to 12 at the other end. The orientation of the keys on both ends is opposite, and key up corresponds to key down.

Polarity B: The positions of the cores at both ends of the patch cord are opposite, that is, 1 at one end corresponds to 12 at the other end, and 12 at one end corresponds to 1 at the other end. The key orientations at both ends are the same, that is, key up corresponds to key up, and key down corresponds to key down.

Polarity C: polarity C MPO patch cords is a pair of adjacent core positions crossed, that is, the core 1 at one end corresponds to 2 at the other end, and the core 12 at one end is 11 at the other end. The key keys at both ends are also in the opposite direction, and key up corresponds to key down.

What are the advantages of MPO fiber optic patch cords?

(1) The small size increases the wiring aperture, thereby greatly improving the wiring density and saving space.

(2) Modular design, plug and play, save installation time.

(3) According to different configuration requirements, the corresponding structure can be selected to meet different wiring requirements.

(4) It has excellent optical properties and mechanical properties, and has low insertion loss in high-speed network environments.

MPO fiber optic connectors and fiber optic patch cords provide a simple and easy-to-manage fiber optic cabling solution, widely used in FTTH and data centers that require high-density integrated fiber optic lines.
